Ambassadors of tomorrow!

COVINGTON TWP, Pa., Nov. 8, 2024 – Model United Nations, or Model UN, is a club growing the average student’s knowledge of the foreign policies and inner workings of the United Nations group by replicating the diplomatic meetings that occur. This club is influential and hard working as can be, with the club proving faithful for many years. Now, with the hope of the student body support, this club is hosting their yearly bingo night for all!
This bingo night has been a tradition for the club for three years, with a previously large turnout of students and parents alike for each one. This bingo night has a $25 admission fee that covers cards used for all ten rounds, each prize being more lavish, with a prizes of at least $25 or more! On December 7th, doors will open at 12:30 and games will begin an hour later. For select games of bingo, participants have a chance to win a crack at a 50/50 jackpot!
According Mrs. Cheri Gensel, history teacher and showrunner of Model UN, “Each year we keep trying to expand and get more students and parents to come and enjoy a game of bingo.” The funds for this night will be used to support the student’s Model United Nations competition, taking place in Boston, Massachusetts and supporting the room and board for the children staying overnight. She not only fully backs the club, but she believes in the importance of the lessons this club instills, going as far to say, “Model UN strives to help students think outside of ‘just one answer can be the solution.’ It allows people to strengthen their logic. It allows people to strengthen their analytical skills, and along with that, their debating skills are done properly.”
As this cost-central event grows nearer, their very own Grace Beckish, treasurer of the Model UN organization and a veteran of 4 years, decided to throw her hat into the ring this year once more. She states, “This is my third year doing the bingo night, and it’s always a hit!” The fellow club members share this sentiment, hoping to bring in a new wave of members and contributors for the up and coming bingo night.
The club continues to not only be a pillar of the educational extra-curriculars, but also a source of fun and enjoyment even outside of their regular meetings. Any student should be proud of their involvement, as well as the club’s continued involvement in school.
