About the Contributors
Max Malec, Year 3
Max Malec is a Trojan T.V. anchor and a Trojan Voice Newspaper staff writer, with experience in and a deep love for sports and sports journalism. Max’s background consists of various camps including the Penn State Donald P. Bellisario Broadcast Journalism Summer Camp and The Washington Journalism and Media Conference hosted by George Mason University. Through these experiences, he has been able to strengthen his knowledge in the areas of physical and digital media and journalism. Max’s deep passion for sports and sports journalism is what keeps him driven to accomplish some of the highest goals in the business. These goals consist of being an analyst of ESPN’s CollegeGameday and being a play-by-play announcer for any of the major networks. In addition, Max has an interest in constantly learning more about the field of journalism as a whole and how he can make himself, as well as those around him, better.
Max is a firm believer in the concept of hard work beats talent and everything that success is earned, not given. While Max has no shortage of talent, his constant desire to be better and improve those around him make him successful.
Amaya Monacelli, Year 2
Amaya Monacelli is a senior and a second year journalism student. Monacelli’s passion for journalism originated with her love for sports communications, but grew very quickly after she was exposed to Trojan Television. Amaya is an outgoing individual with a love for talking to people and spreading news to her peers, so it is no surprise that she is fine with embarrassing herself in front of the student body. Monacelli loves all aspects of the class, however, speaking on camera and “TTV On the Street” is by far her favorite part.
As Amaya goes away to college next year she is planning on minoring in communications and furthering her education at Central Connecticut State University. Her passion for the subject will only push her to grow as an aspiring writer and journalist.
Giada Bahamonde, Year 1
Giada Bahamonde is a first year Journalism student in the eleventh grade. With her interest in working in the media field, she decided this class would be a great place to start. She hopes to work in the NHL on a media team in the future. This comes from her love of hockey that started at an early age. Because she can’t ice skate without embarrassing herself, working on a media team would be a better career choice. Since this is her first year, she does not have a lot of experience, but she is excited to learn how to do everything.
Hailey Lesh, Year 1
Hailey Lesh is a 16-year-old Junior. After moving to the North Pocono School District at age 7, she began her love of cheerleading and school. Following the Junior Trojan Cheerleading program from first grade to eighth grade, she tried out for the high school cheerleading team. Making the varsity football cheerleading team, she has cheered on the football team for three years and counting. She ultimately decided that cheerleading alone was not enough of a connection to the hobby and began coaching for the very program that she grew up idolizing.
While continuing her passion for cheerleading, she has maintained High Honors for both years she has been in high school and began taking accelerated courses in seventh grade. Since then, she has followed through with her accelerated courses and even jumped to begin taking college level (AP) courses in her sophomore year beginning with AP Biology and AP Statistics, later taking AP Chemistry, AP Seminar, and AP World History in her junior year. She plans to pursue her passion of law and argument following her High School career with her final goal to become a corporate attorney.
In the meantime, she will continue to challenge herself with an advanced workload while doing what makes her happy and trying to enjoy her last two years of high school as they are quickly coming to an end!
