About the Contributors

Max Malec, Year 3
Max Malec is a Trojan T.V. anchor and a Trojan Voice Newspaper staff writer, with experience in and a deep love for sports and sports journalism. Max’s background consists of various camps including the Penn State Donald P. Bellisario Broadcast Journalism Summer Camp and The Washington Journalism and Media Conference hosted by George Mason University. Through these experiences, he has been able to strengthen his knowledge in the areas of physical and digital media and journalism. Max’s deep passion for sports and sports journalism is what keeps him driven to accomplish some of the highest goals in the business. These goals consist of being an analyst of ESPN’s CollegeGameday and being a play-by-play announcer for any of the major networks. In addition, Max has an interest in constantly learning more about the field of journalism as a whole and how he can make himself, as well as those around him, better.
Max is a firm believer in the concept of hard work beats talent and everything that success is earned, not given. While Max has no shortage of talent, his constant desire to be better and improve those around him make him successful.

Amaya Monacelli, Year 2
Amaya Monacelli is a senior and a second year journalism student. Monacelli’s passion for journalism originated with her love for sports communications, but grew very quickly after she was exposed to Trojan Television. Amaya is an outgoing individual with a love for talking to people and spreading news to her peers, so it is no surprise that she is fine with embarrassing herself in front of the student body. Monacelli loves all aspects of the class, however, speaking on camera and “TTV On the Street” is by far her favorite part.
As Amaya goes away to college next year she is planning on minoring in communications and furthering her education at Central Connecticut State University. Her passion for the subject will only push her to grow as an aspiring writer and journalist.

Ethan Schield, Year 1
Ethan Schield is a senior journalism student. He also has a YouTube channel, FIreLynx, showcasing his works. His channel features both filming and editing videos along with some broadcasting content.
Ethan’s love for motorsports, railroading, and commentating has pushed him to be his very best. He works hard to one day pursue a career in broadcasting motor racing, such as NASCAR and IndyCar, and he would like to attend college for sports/broadcast journalism to achieve said dream.
Schield has amassed over five-thousand subscribers on YouTube, with nearly two-million lifetime views. He spends hours each day perfecting his stop-motion NASCAR races by filming each race, editing graphics, and adding voiceover to make each race seem like a real broadcast. His train related videos require near perfection, as he only gets one chance to get each shot right. These videos have, at times, surpassed fifty-thousand views.
On top of YouTube, Schield is also a long-distance track athlete for the North Pocono Trojans. He has been a part of both the cross country and track teams since his first year of eligibility in seventh grade. Ethan specializes in the 1,600 and 800 meter events.

Ciara Bates, Year 1
Ciara Bates is currently in her sophomore year of high school. She was born in Cape May, New Jersey, and was raised in Clearwater, Florida. In 2017, Ciara and her family moved to Pennsylvania after deciding they needed a change of scenery. She came into the North Pocono School District when she was just 8-years-old. Throughout her years of school she realized how lucky she was to be in this district. Ciara wants to take on interior designing for her future. She has a great passion for organizing and decorating, but of course if all else fails then she hopes to become a news reporter. Joining Journalism this year really helped her with her passion for writing. She believes that she is the best she’s ever been at writing. Hopefully she will be able to make her dreams come true, as she will work hard.
